Classification of factors influencing environmental management of enterprise

The modern enterprises consider the sustainable development as the one of basic conceptions of one’s activity. In recent years, an increasing number of private as well as public organizations have been engaged with implementation and using of environmental management systems (EMSs). The research is built up by two main parts. In the first, author prepared theoretical analyses of literature and scientific publications. The second part based on survey results collected from Latvian companies using in depth interviews. Author proposes that the process of environmentally oriented business should be studied as a multi-dimensional issue. Company’s external and internal environment elements were shown. A Review of the Monograph by T. Pimonenko, O. Lyulyov, N. Letunovska “Circular and Carbon-Free Economy: The Roadmap for Harmonizing National and European Standards for Energy Market"

The monograph examines the essence of a circular and carbon-neutral economy and the mechanisms of their implementation to accelerate the development of the European society according to these approaches. The authors analysed the energy market of Ukraine and calculated the degree of convergence of national energy policy and the European climate strategy. The experience of the European Union member states in compliance with the standards of energy market regulation and the implementation of transformational changes in this area is studied. There have been examined the bottlenecks and attractors, which determine the dynamics of an increase or decrease of the country's energy efficiency in the forecast periods. The complex material will help to make rational management decisions in the field of energy production and energy saving. The works of the authors can be used in developing a roadmap for harmonization of Ukrainian and European standards of energy market regulation

Assessment model of environmental management: a case study of construction enterprises

Abstract In recent years, an increasing number of private and public-sector organizations have been engaged in the implementation and use of environmental management systems (EMSs). Usually, organizations worldwide certified EMS according to ISO 14001, the global EMS standard. But thousands organizations in Europe had registered an EMS according to Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) The aim of the paper is to build up the model for environmental management assessment on enterprise's activities based on ISO 14001 standard requirements. The model foresees elaboration of ecological radar consisting of 16 indicators that can serve as efficiency indicators of the environmental management system. The author suggests displaying on radar axis the respective titles of ISO 14001 requirement clauses and sub-clauses and the opinion assessment average value indicators of the respondents. Environmental management assessment model was approbated in five construction companies and the approbation results are outlined in the paper. The Role of Digital Transformation in Education in Promoting Sustainable Development

The crucial role education plays in fostering sustainable development, moving society toward a more environmentally and socially conscious future, and influencing the attitudes and behaviours of both the present and the future generations are explored in this article. The authors analyse the concept of education for sustainable development (ESD), a transformative learning technique designed to provide individuals and communities with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to encourage moral behaviour. ESD must be integrated into a number of learning contexts in order to have a full and all-encompassing impact, underscoring the need for interdisciplinary and holistic methods that are considerate of different learning styles, backgrounds, and circumstances. Moreover, the article examines the role of key stakeholders, such as educators, policymakers, and local communities, in designing and implementing transformative learning experiences that foster behavioural change, critical thinking, and social engagement. It discusses the significance of teacher training, curriculum development, and innovative educational resources in nurturing a culture of sustainability and encouraging collective action. Additionally, the article investigates the potential barriers to adopting ESD, including resistance to change, insufficient funding, and a lack of awareness, and proposes strategies for overcoming these challenges. The authors conduct a survey among university students to detect the key challenges of ESD and how to address them from their perspectives

Green Investments as Drivers of Sustainable Economic Growth in the EU Countries: A Retrospective Analysis

This article addresses sustainable economic development under the green investing impact. The authors emphasize that a favorable investment climate attracts green and socially responsible investors contributing to green economic transformation. The research aimed to conduct a retrospective analysis of green transformation to determine the main driving forces and preconditions for sustainable economic growth. The relevance of the decision of the investigated scientific problem is that the green investments contribute to the harmonization of the three main pillars of sustainable development (society, economy, and environment) under the growing burden of climate change. The research object was the EU countries. The analysis covered data from 2014 to 2019 for empirical calculation and from 2000 to 2020 for bibliometric analysis. To achieve the research goal, the study involved the scope of bibliometric and econometric tools. The findings of bibliometric analysis allowed to determine the main driving forces of the economic growth and green investments considered in the literature. The obtained results empirically confirmed and theoretically proved that strengthening and developing sustainable economic performance significantly depends on the success of the green transformation under investments growth. The authors stated the necessity to further explore green investment markets on the national levels to improve the incentive mechanism for developing a green investment market

ATTITUDE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE ENTREPRENEURSHIP AMONG STUDENTS : TESTING A MEASUREMENT SCALE

The overwhelming goal of the research is to evaluate the attitudes and behaviours of youth towards sustain-ability issues and sustainable entrepreneurship. The current paper reflects the results of the first research stage and aims at testing a measurement scale that consists of three groups of items: 1) statements about environmental attitudes and behaviours, 2) general intention to start a sustainable business, 3) intention to start a social business in the field of the circular economy. The reliability analysis to measure the internal consistency of the scale was performed in SPSS environment, using Cronbach alpha. A focus group discussion was organized among business students to evaluate the perceived quality of the questionnaire.publishersversionPeer reviewe

Sustainability challenges and drivers of cross-border greenway tourism in rural areas

Publisher Copyright: © 2020 by the authors.This article provides a practical example of the development of cross-border tourism and its link to achieving sustainable development goals. Greenways (GWs) are successful and recognized initiatives in Western Europe, but have recently also shown development trends in Eastern Europe, notably, in the Baltic Sea Region and Russia. These initiatives improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for sustainable economic activities for the local communities, especially in rural areas, adding value to their natural, cultural, historical and human heritage. The authors studied examples of best practice in scientific literature and practice, encouraging the development of cross-border tourism and GWs in Europe and Russia, in order to further adapt it to other continents. Analyzing the environmental, economic, social and institutional factors in the region and their role in sustainable development, the need for institutional regulation that would allow the development of a wider development of GWs is identified. Research results reveal sustainable development dilemmas of positive socioeconomic effects of GWs and negative environmental effects of increased flows of tourists. Focus groups and expert interviews allowed us to assess the level of various factors contributing to sustainable development and clarify the directions of the future research.publishersversionPeer reviewe

Research Progress and Knowledge Structure of Inclusive Growth: A Bibliometric Analysis

Environmental and socio-political challenges of today show that traditional models of economic growth and valuation methods, which are based primarily on financial profitability, are not always optimal, but the concept of inclusive growth is gaining popularity. In January 2018, the Inclusive Growth and Development Index was presented at the 48th World Economic Forum in Davos. But the relatively new concept of inclusive growth and its economic meaning remains insufficiently studied and needs further research. Accordingly, the paper aims at providing a bibliometric overview to determine the current state of scientific production in "inclusive growth". Scopus Database was selected as the primary data source. The scientific literature was searched based on the titles, abstracts, and author keywords with the following search strategy: "inclusive growth". A time span of 10 years was set, and thus, only literature published from 2012 to 2021 was included. To obtain a more comprehensive analysis VOSviewer 1.6.16 software was used for mapping and visualizing bibliometric networks of scientific publications. A study of the geographical affiliation of researchers in this area showed that the most significant number of publications was published by scientists from the USA, India, Great Britain, China, South Africa, Australia, Spain, Italy, Canada, and Germany. The average growth rate of publications in this field is the highest among scientists in Spain, Italy, and China. The interest in the topic is constantly growing. As a result of a bibliometric analysis of 2000 publications indexed by the Scopus database from 2012 to 2021, devoted to the issues of inclusive growth, 8 clusters were identified: environmental problems, role, and opportunities of stakeholders in increasing inclusive growth, population movement under the influence of micro-and macro-environmental factors to achieve sustainable development goals, inequality, analysis of economic and population development factors in the context of achieving sustainable development goals, inclusive growth essence, and parameters, poverty. The issues of regional aspects and mechanisms for attaining inclusive growth goals, as well as issues of regulating and ensuring stakeholders' interests, including issues of communication and promotion of inclusive growth paradigm, risk assessment of implementing inclusive economic principles, and formalization of impact factors remain unexplored

Smart Cities, Green Diets: How the Lucy Veg App Supports Valencia's Vegan Community and Contributes to SDGs

In the context of growing environmental concerns and the need to promote sustainable living, this study explores the potential of the Lucy Veg App, a digital solution under development, in contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Valencia. The app is designed to empower the local vegan community by providing resources such as plant-based recipes, eco-friendly product recommendations, and a platform for connecting like-minded individuals. This research utilizes a review of relevant literature and examines the theoretical implications of the app on the achievement of SDGs in Valencia. Methodologically, this study draws on existing research related to digital technologies, sustainable living, and SDGs, focusing on the potential of the Lucy Veg App to promote plant-based diets and sustainable lifestyles. By analyzing the app's features and exploring its potential contributions to multiple SDGs, the research studies the app's alignment with various sustainability dimensions. The findings suggest that the Lucy Veg App has the potential to contribute to several SDGs by fostering community engagement, driving positive behavior change, and addressing key sustainability challenges related to food production, consumption, and their associated environmental and health impacts. The study also identifies promising avenues for future research and practical implementation of the app, including evaluating its effectiveness, expanding its features, analyzing user data, and assessing its broader contribution to SDGs in Valencia. In conclusion, the Lucy Veg App presents a promising opportunity to support Valencia's efforts to achieve the SDGs by promoting plant-based diets, sustainable lifestyles, and leveraging digital technologies. Further research and ongoing evaluation of the app's impact on users' behavior and the achievement of SDGs are necessary to maximize its potential in fostering a more sustainable future

Attitudes Towards Sustainable Entrepreneurship among Students : A Pilot Study in Latvia and Lithuania

The present and future of sustainable entrepreneurship are shaped by the youth, including students, which is why it is important to understand their attitudes towards this type of entrepreneurship. Therefore, the key goal of the research is to evaluate the attitudes and behaviours of the youth towards sustainability issues and sustainable entrepreneurship. The current article reflects the results of the second research stage and aims at evaluating attitudes towards sustainable entrepreneurship among Latvian and Lithuanian students. The results reveal that gender/age affect personal environmental attitudes, however gender/age has no effect on personal willingness to start a sustainable business. The analysis results of the personal attitudes to sustainable entrepreneurship differ by age and gender. Gender has no effect and age strongly affects personal attitudes to sustainable development.Peer reviewe
